First Obstetrician Appointment!

Well yesterday I went to meet the obstetrician at the "Mother-Baby" clinic. Here in Fredericton every woman gets seen by an obstetrician at 20-22 weeks. If your pregnancy is deemed normal and low-risk, you don't see them again until 26 weeks at which point you meet weekly until the big arrival.
Sadly, Mark was in high demand at school so the little fart and I went on our own. Otherwise, it was a great visit. We got plenty of reading material and a DVD on how to interpret a baby's cry. It seems that parents commonly freak out when their baby's face turns purple mid-scream. According to the scale there, I've gained 5 lbs in the last week and a half. This is a bit bizarre since I had only gained a 1/4 pound over christmas and had (prior to yesterday) only gained 5 lbs over all. Even if it's true, it puts me at 10 pounds gained so far. I'll be curious to see what the regular scale tells me when I got back to my family doctor next month.
The doctor was stellar. We listened to the baby's heartbeat (153 bpm) and she measured my uterus, which is just above my belly button now, right on par with 21-22 weeks. Her parting words were that I couldn't be having a more normal pregnancy. Music to my ears. So I won't be seeing them again until 36 weeks, still three months away. Next up we see the perinatologist again on February 4th. That's always exciting because it means we'll come home with a new picture!

snowday and body building

SNOW DAY! The three of us are enjoying the view of our tree-house view on this wonderful SNOW DAY ! (note: to those who forgot from their childhood years, this is a very special day when you get a "bonus day" added to your life.)

The body building reference in the title refers to our joyful news that we wish to share with you about our little girl who is growing at an alarming rate inside of Erin. Erin is 21 weeks and 3 days along into this pregnancy. The due date for our little one's first appearance into the outerworld is May 30th.

Thank you for following along with us as we grow (ha ha ha!!!).
