Summer Updates

Julia's summer is rolling right along. We've just returned from a weekend at the cottage and are awaiting a visit later today from Auntie Ariel and Uncle Aidan!!
Last week we had a wonderful visit from Grandma Margaret and Nanu. One afternoon we made a trip to the cottage for lunch with Grandma Carol and Grandpa Dale.
Matt and Ange stopped by with their super-cute pooch Ellie recently. Julia looks nice and mellow in Ange's arms:
And finally, a photo of Julia curled up on a hot and sweaty summer day. She's a little furnace at the best of times, so you can imagine how hot it is to hold her mid-July.

Road Trip Continued...

The above photo shows Julia's first trip to the Ocean. We went for a sunset walk along the beach in Ogunquit, Maine.
The next two shots are of Mark working his magic on a baby who has reached her threshold of car-seat tolerance. His gentle touch never fails to calm Julia down.

Julia often holds onto Mark's shirt when he's holding her. This behaviour is left over from when our ancestors were hairy creatures and babies would grasp onto our fur to stay close- pretty neat, eh?
All played out! Here are two sleepy travelers catching a few winks in Lowell, MA. the day after the concert.
Traveling with an infant is definitely not light travel. Here's a pic of Mark with our entourage of stuff that became part of our daily pilgrimage to and from hotels.
Julia loves to chew/suck on the collar of whatever outfit she has on. She doesn't quite have control over what her hands do, but she's started to figure out how to push her wrists toward her mouth. Here she is caught in the act:

Julia's First Concert & Road Trip!

Julia, at 6 weeks old, went on her first road trip to Massachusetts to see Wilco. She was a great little traveler the entire time. We spent our first night in Old Town, Maine and went on to Portland. The next evening we found ourselves in Lowell, MA rocking out to Wilco tunes. We went on to Salem and Ogunquit before cruising home.
The photo below shows Julia in her car seat - a place where the poor kid had to spend quite a bit of time. She was amazing and we managed to drive long stretches... however when she woke up she wanted out IMMEDIATELY! Mark and I both grew thicker skins when it comes to listening to a screaming baby in the back seat. Rookie parent rite of passage, I'm sure.
Julia was the tiniest fan in the audience. We met another baby who was 14 weeks, but Julia took the prize for youngest fan in attendance.
Here's a picture of Julia at Lelacheur Park getting ready for the music. In truth she slept through 90% of the show, mostly in her daddy's arms. She even slept through the crazy downpour that began at the end of concert. It was coming down HARD! Julia was contentedly oblivious as she slept in her stroller. I'll post more pictures from the trip soon.

Canada Day Baby!

Well summer is in full swing... except for the fact that the sun has been hidden by several weeks of rain and showers. It's coming though - I can feel it! Mark says potatoes are growing out of his ears because of all the rain.

Since our last post, Julia has experienced her first Canada day which included her first concert! We drove down to Saint John and spent the evening on the boardwalk. Julia delightfully slept through both David Myles' and Joel Plaskett's sets. She didn't even stir when the rain poured just after midnight.
The next photo shows Julia in her Cananda Day outfit.
We drove to Perth-Andover to check out a camper van and left Julia with the kind lady of the house while we looked at the van outside. We came inside to find her cozy and asleep in a laundry hamper. Have a peek:
