Winter is in full swing and we are surviving the frigid temperatures. Yesterday we went for a short walk but it was so cold our cheeks were numb within minutes. Recently we went for a walk in the woodlot and Julia began to protest after about an hour. It was a damp cold day and the sun was starting to set. We thought Julia was getting hungry, but we discovered when we got home that her hands and feet were bright red and likely numb from the cold. We felt so awful. So much for fresh winter air. Of course I got freaked out about frostbite, but Mark assured me that she was fine. Sure enough, once warmed up she was back to her old self. Poor kiddo having to suffer through her parents learning curve.

Julia is seriously on the move! She crawls all over - well, she is on one knee and the other foot sort of sticks out like a monkey crawl. It is very effective! Julia is into EVERYTHING! Now that she knows she is mobile, she just wants to explore non-stop. She is particularly fond of wires and the dishwasher. She will stand at the dishwasher and push the lower level in and out and in and out. On the downside, there have been many more bumps and bruises as of late. Yesterday her hands could not seem to keep up with her legs and she fell face first into the ground. We comforted her and then she did it again almost immediately!

Here are some pictures that Andre took while he and Janelle were visiting:

We absolutely love the chair that Greg bought for Julia. It came all over Cuba with us. It is so handy and Julia loves to be right there with us while we eat. This kid has totally skipped eating pureed food. She had no interest in baby cereal or any pureed fruits or veggies and has gone straight to solids. We are just happy that she likes to eat!

A little salty dawg:

A week from today we are heading to Toronto and then BC to see Meghan and Russ! A welcome respite from the deep freeze.
